Mayo Elementary School closes due to COVID outbreak; students to learn virtually two days next week

Schools spokesperson Bob Mosier said in the past two weeks 18 students and staff members, nearly 5% of the school’s population, have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the Anne Arundel County Department of Health to declare an outbreak. After talking with county health officials, the school system made the decision to close the building for five days, including for recreation programs and child care.
