CDL Week In Review: Stage IV Week III

The final week of CDL before the Major is always an entertaining one, as it features big matches which determine seeding for the preceding double-elimination tournament. It started with one of the biggest upsets of the season, as OpTic Chicago was defeated 3-2 by Seattle Surge. Surge, who struggled to find their groove with the recent addition Classic, put out all the stops to score this massive victory, including a win in Control, a game mode in which they were the worst in the league at. Despite this mishap, OpTic finished the week strong with a statement performance against LA Thieves.

Nadeshot’s team had made most of the headlines before the week, as Slasher returned to the starting lineup alongside Huke, who shocked the community with his YouTube video covering his treatment on Dallas Empire. Unfortunately, the team went 0-2, but this change was more of a long-term decision. It is predicted that LA Thieves will be a much stronger side without any Online connection advantages.

Player to Watch

Slasher, LA Thieves

Slasher is our player to watch for the upcoming Major. Making his return to the starting roster, Austin has frequently made himself known that LAN is where he thrives. With some big performances against Minnesota Rokkr in Week 3, we can see Slasher having one of his best events in a very long time.

Match of the Week

Dallas Empire vs OpTic Chicago.

The eClasico. One of the fiercest rivalries in all of Esports. But this time it’s a lot more personal than before. You definitely wouldn’t have missed the clash between FORMAL and Crimsix on Twitter, where both players went back and forth in a roast battle. This all stemmed from a video from OpTic Chicago on YouTube where FORMAL fired the first shot at Crimsix. The 2020 World Champions have yet to beat OpTic on LAN, but the ‘Green Wall’ will want this win just as much as them.
